Before you share anything personal
Privacy and Safety: What Write Ten Years Stores and What It Cannot Know
Write Ten Years asks personal questions because specificity improves reflection. That makes clear limits and data handling part of the product, not a footnote.
Free beta with a daily limit · 25 short pages · Email verification at the end
Your questionnaire and letters
By default, your answers and generated letters remain in the current browser page. They are saved to local storage only if you turn on “Save progress on this device.” The production service processes the questionnaire to generate the result but does not store the questionnaire or letters in its account database.
Your account
Email verification creates an account containing your email address, a random account identifier, and authentication timestamps. Session cookies are HttpOnly. The account is used to protect model generation and keep browser records separated by account on the same device.
Model processing
When you confirm generation, your answers are sent through this site to the selected model provider. The default model uses the site’s DeepSeek account. If you provide your own key, it stays in page memory and in the request needed for that generation; it is not written to browser storage, application files, or exports. The model provider processes the request under its own terms.
Email delivery
If you keep the delivery option enabled, completed letters are sent to your verified email address through Resend. The questionnaire and internal evidence table are not included. Delivery providers and your mailbox may retain the email under their own policies.
Optional usage analytics
When analytics is configured, the page asks before loading Google Analytics or setting analytics cookies. It measures visits, questionnaire progress, login, and generation success or failure using device and visit data. We do not send answers, letters, email addresses, model keys, or error text. You can decline without losing functionality or withdraw through Analytics settings. Query strings and fragments are excluded from reported page URLs.
What the system cannot know
- It cannot predict your health, income, relationship status, or career outcome.
- It cannot diagnose mental health conditions or replace professional support.
- It cannot know whether an inference feels true unless you correct it.
- It cannot promise that a small action will produce the imagined future.
Use less detail when less is enough
Do not enter passwords, government identifiers, exact financial account details, confidential workplace information, or another person’s private information. A concrete scene can be useful without naming every person or organization involved.
One present. Two possible decades.
Let the future write back.
Begin with one honest moment. You can skip choice questions, review the behavioral fork, and stop before anything is sent to a model. Read both letters when they are generated; email delivery is optional.
