What is a future-self letter generator?
A future-self letter generator is a guided reflection tool. You describe your present life, recurring choices, constraints, and what matters to you. The tool then writes in the voice of a possible future version of you. A useful result does not claim to know what will happen. It makes the consequences of a current pattern easier to see.
Write Ten Years adds a second route. Both letters begin with the same age, responsibilities, limits, relationships, and current situation. The difference is one behavior you confirm before generation.
What you receive
- A shared starting point. The two routes keep the same reality instead of making the positive route magically easier.
- A letter from the unchanged route. It shows what may quietly accumulate if the present pattern continues, including benefits as well as costs.
- A letter from the changed route. It shows a more attractive future while preserving effort, uncertainty, and tradeoffs.
- One small experiment. The result ends with a specific action and a way to notice whether it helped.
Route A
Keep the current pattern
This route is not written as punishment. A familiar habit may protect your energy, income, relationships, or sense of safety. The letter also asks what that protection may cost over ten years.
Route B
Change one repeatable behavior
This route is not written as guaranteed success. It traces how a small behavior could create evidence, confidence, relationships, or skill over time, while naming what it still cannot control.
What to write before you begin
- One ordinary moment that keeps repeating.
- What you do in that moment and what it gives you immediately.
- What becomes harder afterward.
- What you would protect even if you changed.
- What you secretly hope could be different.
You can answer only what feels useful. More text is not automatically better; concrete details are more useful than polished life stories.
Use it as a mirror, not a verdict
The letters are generated scenarios based on the material you provide. They are not medical, financial, legal, or psychological advice. They cannot predict wealth, health, relationships, or career outcomes. If a letter feels wrong, treat that reaction as information and correct the assumptions.
One present. Two possible decades.
Let the future write back.
Begin with one honest moment. You can skip choice questions, review the behavioral fork, and stop before anything is sent to a model. Read both letters when they are generated; email delivery is optional.
